Dr. Engard will be discussing the role herbal formulas can play in chelation and detoxification from environmental exposures. She will be citing biochemical properties, research data and clinical pearls. Traditional formulations like Scudders Formula and others will be discussed along with case histories and appropriate usage of botanicals for detoxification.
Participants will be able to:
- Understand and describe the mechanism of action of specific botanicals in chelating toxins in the blood and lymph systems
- Know the biochemical constituents responsible for these actions
- Comparative analysis of botanical chelators for different chemical toxicities

Dr Kimberly Engard ND, LAc Bio:
Dr. Engard experience with medicine and the healing arts spans over 30 years. She has been a practicing Herbalist since 1985 with undergraduate degrees from RIT (AS, BFA-1985,1987) and Organic Chemistry (Portland College-1993) and post-graduate botany apprenticeships at Cornell University and with local herbal schools/companies (Gold Canyon School, Wish Garden Herbs). She has over 20 years’ experience as owner/manager of Wildwoods Botanicals LLC, an herbal medicine company she started in Colorado in 1995. Dr. Engard received her Master’s Degree in Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture from the Phoenix Institute of Herbal Medicine and Acupuncture (PIHMA-2005) and her Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine from Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine in 2004. Dr. Engard has been an adjunct faculty member at Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine in Tempe, AZ from 2004 to 2013, with professorships in Botanical Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Clinical Neurology and Clinical Pulmonology. She has additional degrees in Cardio-Pulmonary Medicine (CRT 1998), Paramedicine (NREMT-P 1999) and well as extensive clinical work in ICU management, Emergency Medicine/Flight for Life as well as Coordinator for Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabs in Colorado and Arizona.
She currently practices in Arizona and Colorado, and coordinates treatment plans for Chronic Disease and Detoxification with patients nationally/internationally as well as teaching lectures and workshops to professionals and the public on Natural Health and Botanical Medicine throughout the country.
